RecapEdit

The episodes begin with Suzuko searching for Hanna in her classroom, however the only thing there is Hanna’s empty seat. It is apparent that Suzuko is very worried about Hanna. It then shows Suzuko on the street, as she decides to visit Hanna at her home. At Hanna’s apartment, her older sister explains that Hanna refuses to leave her bedroom or see anyone, whilst serving Suzuko tea at the dining table.

Her older sister explains that Hanna doesn’t seem sick, but she won’t talk to her either. She goes on further stating how Hanna had been excited about a card game lately, which was rare for even her. Suzuko then starts to explain something about Hanna, however we don’t get to hear the rest of it. It then shows Suzuko leaving the apartment, turning around one last time to stare worriedly at Hanna’s bedroom window.

After the opening, the scene changes to Chinatsu who is seen leaving flowers on the bridge where Yukime committed suicide on in the previous episode. As she stares at the flowers, Chinatsu starts remembering what Kiyoi had told her about Selector Battles having no exits and that they are only unending chains of hatred and pain. She also remembers what Yukime said before killing herself.

Shohei then calls out to Chinatsu, and asks if she is not working today. Chinatsu tells him that it’s none of his business, and starts to leave. However, she stops when Shohei says that this will be the last time he interferes with her business, and that he won’t ask her about it again, if it really bothers her. He then asks her to come with him somewhere for a bit. Chinatsu agrees.

In Hanna’s room, Hanna is crouched up on her bed, recalling about her last moments with her brother, Yuuto, before he died. Suzuko then knocks on her door having coming by for another visit. Suzuko then calls out to Hanna and asks if they can speak to each other. Hanna doesn’t respond, so Suzuko continues by mentioning how she made a Chocolate- Banana Pound Cake for her today; mentioning how Hanna likes chocolate-banana. Suzuko then tells her that she’ll leave the bag on Hanna’s door handle for her to grab later when she gets hungry. Though, Hanna just grabs onto her knees harder. Suzuko then leaves, after placing the bag on the door handle with a note attached to it.

At the back of their old Middle School, Shohei and Chinatsu are then seen trying to sneak in by finding a secret hole in the wired fence. Finding it, Shohei becomes glad that he remembered where it was. He then crawls through the hole, urging Chinatsu to do the same thing. At a nearby bush, Guzuko and Aya are seen spying on the pair. Guzuko makes a sigh of relief that neither of them spotted them, but Aya gets irritated at her and tells her to hurry up and follow them. Guzuko apologizes, but Aya just gets the phone ready to record as they have to make sure that Satomi has lots of fun.

Inside the school, Shohei notices how their school hasn’t changed at all, and how strange it feels, because it was only roughly a year ago that they were all having fun her. Shohei then takes a snapshot of the track field with his camera, and shows Chinatsu a photo of the entire class on field day. He then asks if she remembers how their teacher said that if they won, he would buy them all drinks. Shohei was on the track team at the time, and was so excited that he went barefoot during the race, but then he forgets what happened so Chinatsu reminds him that he had tripped during it.

Shohei then insists that they go see their old classroom, much to Chinatsu’s tedium as he begins a reminiscing session with her. In their old classroom, Shohei thanks her for coming with him because he was able to remember a lot thanks to her. Chinatsu tries to say something to him, but Shohei interrupts. Shohei then asks her about her actual opinion on being chosen as a Selector, Chinatsu then gets upset and says that she’s going home presumably bored with his attempt to persuade her.

Just as she is leaving Shohei suddenly mentions that he is planning to start soccer again and that he wanted to tell her that here in their old classroom. Chinatsu then leaves, all the while, not noticing that their entire conversation was being recorded and live-streamed to Satomi’s phone in real time.

In Satomi’s shop, Carnival is laughing at their entire conversation and ask what kind of a tearjerker is this, a melodrama. However, Satomi is unamused and states that he hates kids who spoil things. Satomi then gets a call and answers it, hearing Rio on the other end of the line. Rio then tells him that she lost another battle and has only one coin left. Satomi tells that its terrible what happened to her, and as Rio asks him what should she do, Satomi tells her not to worry about it because he’ll handle everything with a sly grin on his face.

Later on in an underground car park, Satomi calls out to Shohei as Mr. Video Star, and praises him for the show he gave him at the school. Shohei gets upset that he was spying on them, but Kou just asks that he let him act with them next time as he would do well against Chinatsu. Shohei then angrily asks him, if that was what he wanted, to which Satomi replies “No,” Satomi then challenges Shohei to a battle. Shohei is initially confused, but then realizes that Satomi is a Selector.

Satomi doesn’t deny it, and then states that if Shohei wins then he’ll get out of his and Chinatsu’s life, but doesn’t mention what’ll happen if he loses. Carnival also encourages Shohei to battle, much to Dona’s concern. Stepping out into the light, Satomi asks Shohei “Don’t you want to make Chinatsu yours, right?”, with a twisted expression on his face.

It then flips to Chinatsu on top of a different bridge, watching a train roll by and asking herself if she’s doing the right thing. Mel states that she is and how she is always right and always will be, though Chinatsu isn’t convinced by Mel’s claims.

In the battlefield where Shohei and Kou are fighting in, Satomi had just ordered Carnival to attack. Dona endures the blow, but collapses to her knees. Satomi then puts on a seeming disappointed face saying how Shohei doesn’t seem to be into the battle, despite accepting his offer. He then teasingly asks if Shohei is nervous and asks him if he wants his big brother to teach him everything that he needs to know. (Satomi’s teasing throughout this battle is him just teasing Shohei on how he’s a virgin and inexperienced with girls.)

In response to this, Shohei gets angry and activates Call Wonder, utilizing Snow Queen’s effects to power up Dona even more. He then has Dona attack Carnival; however, Satomi just coolly tells Carnival to block it. Carnival then asks Shohei if that’s all he has got and calls him a wimp. Satomi gets excited and ask if he heard what Carnival called him, and tells the angry Shohei that he can’t be the only one having a good time.

He then tells Shohei while making all sorts of twisted, disturbing expressions that he has to find his partner’s sweet spot and then slowly, slowly tease them there. He then implies that the reason Chinatsu dumped him was because he was unable to do that, which further angers Shohei. Shohei then asks Satomi why he is so obsessed with Chinatsu, and what he is really after. Satomi makes a bored expression and asks him if that what’s he really wants to know because he could’ve asked about his and Chinatsu’s relationship. He then asks if Shohei is really that interested in them. Shohei just tells him to answer him.

Satomi then states that it’s possibly because the idea of building a girl up to his ideal image, controlling her, deceiving her, and then destroying her is fun, so of course it’s fun. Satomi then launches another attack on Shohei. Satomi then asks Shohei if he doesn’t feel the same way, because of the way he grabbed her despite her not wanting to be grabbed, told her what she was doing was wrong, insisting that you were right, and slowly put her under more stress until…...Satomi then asks if he felt fulfilled doing that.

Despite Satomi’s taunting, Shohei then declares his intention of erasing Satomi, no matter what it takes. Shohei then activates Arc Destruct, however, Satomi blocks it with Idol Defense which becomes an orb of darkness that ends up swallowing Shohei and Dona. Before the battle ends, Satomi then tells Shohei that it was because Chinatsu like being controlled so that’s why she chose him in the end, Mr. Virgin.

Back in the underground car park, Shohei punches the concrete floor, upset at having lost the battle. He then lifts up his hand and sees two of his gold coins fade away. Dona looks up at Shohei concerned. Above him, Satomi arrogantly declares that Chinatsu didn’t want some kid who played with his memories, she wanted the strength to move forward which causes Shohei to grimace. Satomi then tells Shohei that he’ll give him a place where even he can be useful to him.

Back on the bridge where Yukime died, Kiyoi is then seen standing staring at the flowers that Chinatsu had left there. As thunder clouds are heard overhead, Kiyoi declares that she’ll stop this mess. It then starts raining, and Kiyoi leaves.

The next day, Suzuko with her red umbrella is seen leaving Hanna’s apartment, having made another failed visit and leaving another cake for Hanna to try again. As Suzuko leaves, Hanna is seen staring at Suzuko through her bedroom window. As Suzuko is waking away, she thinks to herself about how helpless she was when Hanna started screaming and crying after her last battle. She notes how she couldn’t do anything, even though she had decided to support Hanna, and laments to inability to say anything to Hanna when she really needed it.

Suddenly, a strange girl calls out her, asking if she is a Selector. The girl then challenges her to a battle. Ril then stares up at Suzuko who accepts her challenge. In Hanna’s apartment, Hanna is seen at the dining room table where Suzuko’s cake has been place. Hanna is reading Suzuko’s note and starts crying for Suzuko. During this scene, Suzuko thoughts can be overheard from the battlefield. Suzuko starts declaring in her mind about how she wants to become stronger, in order to protect what she cares about, and it is for that reason she’ll fight and become strong. After receiving an attack, she grows Ril….and then scene becomes black.

After the intermission, we then see Hanna again staring at some of Yuuto’s toys, and noticing how unworthy she is because she left Yuuto to die. She then states that she doesn’t have the right to feel happy, as she clings onto Suzuko’s note. Suddenly, Hanna’s older sister calls out to her, and becomes shocked as Hanna turns around with tears falling down her face.

Hanna then starts crying more as she apologizes, and tries to run back to her room. However, her older sister stops her and grabs her arm, and asks if what she said about her role in Yuuto’s death and her own feelings of unworthiness was true. Hanna starts crying and struggles to pull away even more. Letting go, Hanna crashes back into the cabinet where Yuuto’s toys are and knocks the robot down.

Seeing the fallen robot, Hanna apologizes to Yuuto, crying as she tries to reach out to the toy. Hanna’s sister then pulls her into a hug, and tells her that it wasn’t her fault. That it was an accident. Her sister then mentions how Suzuko told her about how hard she’d been fighting all by herself for a long time, because she was fighting to get back something that was important to her, and states that it was Yuuto that she wanted to get back. She then asks if she was working so hard all by herself for Yuuto’s sake. Hanna then turns around and cries even more into her sister’s chest, as she apologizes for not realizing how bad Hanna felt and how much she had blamed herself for his death.

Later in the afternoon, Chinatsu is seen walking down a street filled with shops. As she’s walking, she gets a phone call from Shohei. As she picks up the call, she reminds Shohei about how he said that he wouldn’t bug her anymore, to which Shohei apologizes for it. He then states that he called her because he forgot to tell her something. He then tells Chinatsu that she should never forget her real wish. Shohei then tries to confess his feelings to her again, but relents before he can say anything and ends the call. Chinatsu stares at her phone confused, but then she gets another call, this time from Satomi, asking her to meet him.

At a park, Shohei stares at his phone and starts to walk, waiting for someone. Dona then alerts him to a nearby Selector. Turning around, Shohei finds a crying Rio, and is devastated by the fragile nature of his opponent. He also realizes that Satomi has set him up to take a fall.

At the rooftop of a nearby building, Chinatsu coldly greets Satomi by asking him what does he want. Satomi then states that he wanted to show her how it feels to look down on a piece of scum. He then states how Chinatsu wanted to be stronger than anyone else in the world. But, she corrects him by saying that she wanted to rid herself of all of her memories that are related to Suzuko. Fed up, Satomi asks her if she is still saying that stuff. He then tells her that she can’t go back now.

Satomi then tells her that a life or death battle is about to begin with both players only having one coin left. He then suggests that they make a bet out of it, and asks her who do you think will win out of Rio or Shohei, and subsequently which one of them will disappear. Chinatsu becomes shocked by that news, and asks Kou if that battle was meant to be a way of punishing her. But, Satomi reminds her with another twisted expression that she was the one who dragged both Rio and Shohei into this mess in the first place.

Frightened, shocked, and worried about the two, Chinatsu then runs off to try and find the battle site. Satomi the starts laughing like a maniac as she leaves, saying how much he loves Chinatsu’s despair-filled face. However, he then stops, as Carnival alerts him to a visitor. As he turns around, he sees Kiyoi standing bravely on the opposite rooftop. Satomi then states that he has been waiitng for the moment when the one who has been trying to snuff him out would finally appear before him. It then skips to Chinatsu who has finally raced out of the building. As she’s running Chinatsu starts thinking about Shohei.

In the battlefield, Shohei is seen ordering Dona to attack with Ability Mind. Mama gets blasted back by the attack, as Rio cries out for her. Rio then becomes so upset, confused and scared that she doesn’t know what to do at this point in the battle, even with Mama scolding and trying to calm her down. As Rio starts crying for her real Mama, Shohei turns to Dona and tells that he can’t do it, implying that he can’t be so ruthless in his desire to win, that if winning means that he has to make a little girl disappear, then he absolutely won’t do it.

Shohei also additionally implies by that statement that if he did do it, then it would make him more worse than Satomi. Despite Dona being so worried about him, though, he just continues saying that he just can’t do it to Dona while making a saddened and pained face, which makes Dona sadly smile at him, understanding what Shohei intends to do.

In another battlefield where Kiyoi and Satomi are fighting in, the battle has only just begun. As the dial on the clock turns to Kiyoi’s colour (Blue), Satomi states that they should get started. Satomi then states how much he has been looking forward to this, while looking like an animal hunting for prey. But, Kiyoi coldly stops his ramblings by commanding Piruluk to "Grow." She then places her SIGNIs and ends her turn.

As her turn ends, Satomi notes how cold she is being, but states that it is alright because it really turns him on while loosening his tie. Satomi then begins his turn by growing Carnival and summoning Antares. He then uses Flame-Awned Flash to boost Carnival and has her attack. Shocked by her sudden movements, Piruluk gets blasted by flame.

It is then Kiyoi’s turn. Kiyoi starts by growing Piruluk, she then discards a card from her hand and attacks. Piruluk’s punch connects with Carnival, but Satomi just continues to make distorted grins and declares that this kind of battle is amazing and how he can’t get enough of this and that he wants to know more about Kiyoi. However, Kiyoi just coldly ends her turn.

On Satomi’s turn, Satomi begins by drifting his fingers over his card hand as if he’s trying to choose which card to pick. He then mentions to Kiyoi, how he heard that she was an LRIG from the previous Selector Battles. Satomi then admits that he is grateful to the first generation Selectors since it was because they stole the wishes of other girls,’ that they trampled on their feelings, that someone like him was created. He then, flicks out Ecliptic and attacks her with it, he then thanks her by name, implying that he had known about her for a while.

Clenching her teeth, Kiyoi yells out that she’ll stop him, and attacks him with Sakurae. As the needles of her attack pierce Carnival’s body, Satomi shows doubts about whether she could stop him because nobody who has ever learned the truth have ever been able to stop battles permanently (Ruko only managed to temporarily stop them). He then asks Kiyoi, what it is that she’s doing now, and asks if she is playing house, play-acting or playing a game trying to get under her skin.

Kiyoi interrupts him and states that Satomi is nothing but evil, and that if she can end him, then that’ll be enough for her. Satomi then starts clapping, yelling “Bravo!”, and claiming that Kiyoi really is like him and how happy he is about that. He then goes on by saying how Kiyoi surely understands him. Kiyoi interjects asking “What in the hell are you talking-----“, but Satomi interrupts her mid-sentence and continues by suggesting that Kiyoi wanted to see the suffering and despair on those girls’ faces as she beat them.

Kiyoi starts to deny it, but then he interrupts her again by correcting himself saying that she was only trying to save her friend, but then she got betrayed and fell into despair, so then she had a reason to inflict the same thing on other people. Kiyoi tries to ask what his point is, but Satomi continues on by stating that he actions after the fact couldn’t be helped considering what happened. Satomi then tells her that she should relax a bit, and that he can understand her since they’re alike. He then tells her that because of that she shouldn’t worry about it, and that she should focus on really go at it with him during their battle.

Angry at herself and Satomi, Kiyoi admits that she did trample on those girls’ feelings, that she knew that the ending wouldn’t be what was promised, and that a part of her told herself that she was just as much a victim as them. As Kiyoi is saying this, blood then starts dripping from her hands onto the battle platform, as result of Kiyoi digging her nails into her tightly clenched hands to much. Kiyoi continues on saying that she didn’t try to anything more than those things, but then Kiyoi then loudly declares that she’s done with running away from her sins.

However, Satomi returns to being unamused and asks her if she is done with her atonement. Seeing Kiyoi’s stunned face, he asks her if she still doesn’t understand yet, he then repeats that she is just like him. He continues on by saying that try as she might to play the good guy, she can’t erase her past…...suddenly, he stops as if he’s suddenly remembered something. He then smirks and reminds her that if she wins the battles, she can erase those memories from her mind. Satomi then makes a psychotic face and audaciously suggests that this was Kiyoi’s wish from the start.

Satomi then launches an attack on her, but Kiyoi remains firm. She then uses her Coin Bet Skill “Peeping” to destroy one of his Level 4 SIGNIs and to look into his heart. After realising what her skill does, Kou then gets excited and disturbingly tell them to go right ahead. Suddenly, Piruluk becomes absolutely terrified and starts freaking out, collapsing. Carnival then tells Piruluk that peeping into his heart was a bad idea. Kiyoi becomes worried about Piruluk. But then, Piruluk tells Kiyoi that there was nothing but darkness and emptiness in Satomi’s heart, just pure black darkness.

Hearing this, Kiyoi leans over and starts vomiting, though Satomi states that her reaction was a bit rude and that it hurt, faking a sad expression. Suddenly he grins, and activates his Coin Bet Skill “Joker” which he uses to overwrite Hadar with Solar Flare. Kiyoi becomes shocked by his move, as Satomi orders Carnival to attack.

As Carnival starts barraging Piruluk with attacks, Satomi starts declaring that Kiyoi is afraid of him because he reminds her of her old self, but even though she’s scared she can’t ignore him and that she wants to look at him in order to tell herself that she’s somehow different from how she used to be. Piruluk then collapses from having taken on so many attacks, with Kiyoi looking on concerned.

Satomi then declares that even though Kiyoi is like that, it’s fine and that there is nothing wrong with it since he wants to pay the humans who created him too, after all. Devastated, Kiyoi looks up and sees Satomi used a card to launch all of the blue blocks above straight at her. As the rocks hit her, Kiyoi falls from platform and loses the battle.

Back in the real world after the battle, Satomi sighs from his perch, lamenting on how he wanted to fight Kiyoi more. From Kiyoi’s determined gaze, it is apparent that she hasn’t given up yet. Seeing her anguished yet determined expression, Satomi invites her to come battle him again, once she gets more coins. As he’s leaving, Kiyoi bites her lip so much that she draws blood.

Carnival notes how Satomi seems to be having fun, to which he admits he is. Carnival then asks if his cute girl (Chinatsu) hasn’t changed, he says no and that the only thing that he’s really interested in is those kids (Suzuko and Chinatsu). He then wonders which one out of the two will be the one to fight him next.

Chinatsu is then seen running around, stopping at a school to catch her breath. She then starts looking around wondering where Shohei and Rio are. She then remembers the weird amusement park noise that was in the background of Shohei’s call and figures out their location from that. She then runs to the park where they’re battling.

In the battlefield where Shohei and Rio are fighting, Shohei just accepts wave after wave of Rio’s attacks intending to sacrifice himself for her. He ends his turn, which surprises Rio, who is unaware of his intentions. Mama then gets excited and tells Rio that it’s her chance now. Rio nods in agreement, wiping her tears from her eyes.

On Shohei’s platform, a concerned Dona tries to make Shohei change his mind because he’ll disappear if he takes on another attack, but he just apologizes to her and asks what he should’ve done. Shohei continues saying to a shocked Dona on how the whole situation and his own powerlessness really frustrates him, and that he didn’t want to lose here. As he says this, Rio activates Catch Up and launches a victory strike against Shohei. As the attack hits the upset and depressed Shohei, he thinks to himself on how he wanted to protect Chinatsu. As he loses the battle and falls from the collapsing platform, his last gold coin turns black and the screen goes black.

His last thoughts repeating what he said about how he wanted to protect Chinatsu.

Back in the real world, Chinatsu has managed to reach the battle site, but it is too late. Chinatsu watches as Rio celebrates her victory and thanks Shohei who is lying on the ground. Rio then starts trying to cheer him up by trying to give him advice for his next battle, not understanding that Dona is now the one inside of his body and that Shohei has disappeared.

As Rio is telling him that he should stronger cards first, Chinatsu starts approaching the two. Rio then sees Chinatsu and starts running happily up to her telling her how she won and how she thinks that Shohei messed up. Rio then becomes confused and concerned by the look on Chinatsu’s face, because Chinatsu wasn’t really paying attention to her because she was staring at Shohei the entire time.

Brushing past Rio, Chinatsu starts to approach Shohei. She becomes surprised and realises that its now his LRIG in his body. As Dona is crying and mourning over her Selector’s loss, her LRIG card starts fading away as her tears fall on it. Chinatsu becomes grief-stricken and traumatised by this scene. As she watches Dona cry, she realises to her horror, that Shohei is now gone and that she was the one who caused this to happen. The episode then ends with the screen becoming like a spritzing busted TV channel.

Featured Battle Edit

Notes Edit

  • Additionally, Shohei lost two coins to Kou Satomi, because he used his coin bet skill off-screen in the unseen first half of the fight and lost. The viewer was only privy to seeing the 2nd half of the fight.
  • As of this episode, all of the main male Selectors have now lost all of their coins and have relinquished their bodies to their LRIGs.
