Oh I see. That's good, cause I don't really like saying too much on public sites like the wiki and such.
Anyway, which of the new Lrigs caught your interest? I don't mean from what you have seen in the anime (cause I didn't watch it). I mean stuff like appearance, mechanics or theme of signis (like what they are based on), etc.
i haven't started watching Lostorage yet either...
I think Ril is gonna be pretty meta. Meru-tan is waifu. Nanashi isn't going to be as competitive. And I want to play Aya because I feel like her LR card would look great in a card sleeve.
As far as signi theme goes... they are all pretty darn cool. Butttttttttttt my least favorite (yet again) is Nanashi's signi class. Or at least the SR Bacteria signi looks... meh. At least Nanashi LR art is naiz
Aside from Wixoss, I for awhile had thought I was totally done with VG.... buttttttttttt Luard is a thing and I want him
I don't see why you think Drew would pick 1 game over the other considering that he has budget for both.
edit: seems like the topic is done, was typing before you guys posted.
Luard does seem pretty interesting, but be sure that you don't buy on impulse and really like the deck cause Shadows are not exactly cheap. Though you have the budget, you still need to make it a worthy investment =)
About Ril being meta, I'm not sure of the situation in japan, but it seems likely. The irony though, is that Mel's cards are more expensive lol.
A agree about Ritual. I'm really happy they didn't make Shadow's keyword similar to Tachikaze's, considering both clans are about killing their own rg.
Ril's LR arts is definitely stronger and more impactful, considering the opponent would likely jus skip his/her signi atk step when you use Mel's LR arts, but Berserk forces the opponent to self destruct all his signis and give you 3 Life Cloth.
Well, Taiyou is also sort of a main character this season, so there might be the same issue for Gurguit. And I feel that you don't have to update your deck everytime it gets support, and you can also use the japanese version to predict future support before deciding if you want to get them when new cards are out (I assume that you will be buying the english cards?).
Anyway, I assume you will likely be building Mel or Aya? (maybe both?)
Yea... I'm worried about that with Gurguit too but tbh I'd be fine not updating a Gurguit build for a long time as the gbt08 support made me pretty content. That said... I'd still rather play Drag mages
tbh... Mel is waifu, I like Ril support, and I find Aya pretty neat
but I'd rather build the deck I find least viable (Nanashi) because her playstyle is basically Myuu.dek (field control more or less)
I bought some boxes and got some pretty good/helpful pulls (in terms of cards I need or cards that I can use to trade with my friend for what I need). I don't really want to post my loot here, so probably I'll tell you more in detail when given the opportunity.
Remember I said I was going to build a Ril deck? I managed to obtain all the cards I intend to run in my deck (some are not here yet but I already ordered the singles online). I also did a test run of my deck yesterday with proxies.
Btw, I'll be participating in Bushiroad's World Grand Prix qualifiers this weekend. Still considering whether to join vanguard or weiss schwarz since the timeslot clashes. I'll also be joining for Luck & Logic since the timeslot doesn't clash with anything else.
What are your opinions on the blue Misfortune Insect support. And do you think its possible to run some of them in the previous Myuu build without altering too much of its playstyle? Or do you think they are meant for a whole new build?
I didn't want to have to make a double comment on my message wall, so I made one here. Sorry about that.
Um, Anyways, I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate the help you have offered! I don't want to have to always come to you or Drewbert for help, but I'm grateful for the fact that the option is there. Oh, and I look forward to being able to battle you at some point. :)
I have a regular skype account... but the reason it looks like it's coming through mobile is because i'm sending messages to your phone number not to your skype account. i think you might need to fix that
And so, I have decided to make a thread over here to discuss ideas and plot points for my novels. Before I start, I'll just say I'm pretty bad with constructing the ideas in detail into passages and chapters, so I'll just start from the basics and list them as point forms and the like. I'll probably edit and update the points into the opening post as I go along.
Just a curious question, would you prefer me to reveal information as if you were the reader or as if you were the creator (meaning you get to know what I planned ahead even if you are not supposed to know when reading up till that point)?
Ok. I haven't come up with any names (cause I'm bad at it =P) so I'll name them by their roles. And technically several of the characters are 'spoilers' as they do not appear that early despite playing an important role, but I'll still list those that appear within the 1st few chapters, otherwise there won't be much characters at all lol.
Genre: Action, Supernatural, Magic, Romance, Mystery (due to there being unknown elements early on), Tragedy (may not apply as its mostly/fully from flashbacks)
Setting: Modern Era, City, Highschool, Facility/Base of Organisations, battle areas are excluded cause they occur at random places
Plot: MC is a normal highschool student who lost his whole family in a catastrophe 8? years ago. He has been having the same nightmare ever since, reliving the scene where he lost his family. Present day, he had a strange dream, unlike the usual Nightmare, there was a door with an ominous aura in front of him. When he opens that door, his life would change forever.
Characters listed in format - Name (gender, role/occupation):
MC (male, highschool student), Unknown Loli (female human??, none), Mysterious Loli (female, unknown), Maid (female, maid), Best Friend (male, highschool student), Childhood Friend (female, highschool student), Homeroom Teacher (female, teacher), Armed Agressor (male, unknown), Dark Knight (human??, unknown)
... All of us writing a novel right now (welp, aside from Reki but he's an exception) have a hard time with that, so it's k p_p
Rather than the synopsis, we need the plot and setting. Clearly, otherwise we won't be able to feedback. If it's spoilers you're worried about, when giving feedback it's unavoidable, so blast away to your heart's content :P
About you seeing that you are logged in, I also had this glitch about 20mins ago. Wonder if something is up with wiki.
Regarding the plot, there are monsters known as the Inverse/Unverse (whichever sounds better) which reside in another realm/plane parallel to ours. Technically its the same world as ours, but its a distortion beyond it.
The door that MC opens is related to a 'system' called The Negative Corridor, which contains weapons and abilities that are effective against the Inverse (using this term for now). People that can link to The Negative Corridor to use the weapons/abilities are known as Gate users, but are also known as Distorters to another group of people. It is later known that there is another category of people known as Magicians (that other group of people the previous sentence mentioned), that can combat the Inverse. Aside from their individual capabilities and such, Distorters generally receive physical buff such as, but not limited to, increased strength, speed, reaction time, whereas Magicians receive mental buff such as improved sight, mental processing speed, etc.
Well, I'm not sure if it would have made any difference, but the order of information revealed might play a bigger role than it seems. Probably I can try giving info on how the plot starts?
And the plot isn't exactly driving at the standard cliche where MC gets involved unwillingly > MC is the chosen one > MC joins group of people that fights monsters > MC fights to save the world. Reason being, MC was already involved the day his family was killed.
Anyway, The Negative Corridor is fueled by the dark emotions of its users, such as sadness, remorse, hatred etc etc. Oh, and Unknown Loli actually resembles MC's imouto at the age when she died.
And the plot isn't exactly driving at the standard cliche where MC gets involved unwillingly > MC is the chosen one > MC joins group of people that fights monsters > MC fights to save the world. Reason being, MC was already involved the day his family was killed.
Theeeere we have development :P
I demand details.
And what Drew said. I've seen stories that had that exact development already, so you might want to add in more complex stuff inside your universe, because at this rate even with that development, it's gonna turn cliche.
The catastrophe 8? years ago was actually a city-scale ritual to summon the Fallen God by an organisation and every living thing in the city was used as human sacrifices. MC's whole family died in that catastrophe and MC managed to survive (which I'll talk more about it later so I can stay on-topic for now). The organisation members seen there were Distorters.
Here's the irony, The Negative Corridor was created x000 years ago for battling the Fallen God, and can now still be used to fight the Inverse (related to the Fallen God but will be explored more later), yet the people trying to summon the Fallen God were using it. Back to the main point, so anyway, when the MC's family died, he would obviously be having mixed dark emotions, such as grief, hatred, anger, fear of death and the like. With this, he contributed to fueling the Negative Corridor (cause the people who conducted the ritual opened it to use their weapons/abilities) and MC became 'an applicant' for the usage of it unknowingly (though not just anyone and everyone can do so, but MC isn't the special chosen one). And ofcos, if there were any other survivors of that incident, they too could potentially become a distorter unknowingly.
And here's another spoiler, the group that was the direct trigger of the castrophe is actually a subgroup of a faction (not publicly a division/department, but literally a group of people with the same ideology/goals that are working together in the shadows) within the Mage Organisation (which are the good guys).
The Mage Organisation is kinda like the supernatural version of your police/army, except that it doesn't belong to a particular country and spans across the world. So this means that there is actually a traitorous faction within the Law Enforcers of the 'supernatural side', and a rebellion/coup can potentially happen at any point. Not to mention the fact that if higher-ups are involved, the information handed down might be completely fabricated.
As for his reason to fight, early on it would be for survival. If random humans or monsters attack you, you'll definitely act in self-defence regardless of the reason they attacked you. After that, it would be to find out the several truths, such as the reason his family was killed, what are these monsters that he fought, who or what is behind the strings of events around him, and many more truths. Never has it been about fighting to save the world for him, aside from the fact that if the world cease to exist, he'll die too, but that again is for fighting for the sake of self-preservation.
First things forst: Don't think of spoilers here as spoilers. Again, if you hold back info from us, we can't feedback properly.
So looking at the details, it reminds me much of Unlimited Fafnir, except in the mage version.
Questions about the story: For the past... 8 (or so) years, how did the MC feel about the catastrophe? Because if it was such a long time ago that he doesn't feel anything about it anymore, you'll need to supply the MC with a new reason to go on fighting (which on it's own would be interesting), either that or the MC felt anger and annoyance for 8 years and gladly jumps into the battle the moment he knows he can, or he felt mad at himself for being weak and wonders whether he should join or not and bla bla bla.
So basically catastrophe was a ritual to summon a devil (fallen angel, the same thing) into the world failed horribly, right? Resulting in Inverses being summoned into the world. If yes, then did the government hide the existance of the inverse?
Does the MC have any connection with magecraft before the catastrophe? Like the dad being a mage or something?
I doubt it but would you implement in sci-fi into the story?
And more details about the MC in general.
To give recommendations from me: the catastrophe better have a backstory thought out (even if you don't plan to reveal it right away) to help you write the stuff.
... And then can't think of any more recommendations from the top of my head. Need more info. Just tell me everything :P
I suggest reading Unlimited Fafnir for this book. The concept is similar (welp, except for the fact that Fafnir is sci-fi) and it's an overall good book, should give you inspiration to write.
Ok, I'll check out Unlimited Fafnir when I'm more free. Now to reply to you qns:
For the past 8 years, the MC has always been haunted by the incident and never fully healed from it. Aside from grief, he also felt remorse (which I'll explain next) and to make it worse, he doesn't know who to direct his anger towards, as no culprit was identified for it, and it was just covered up as industrial accident (which i'll explain 2 paragraph below in response to your other qn).
The reason he feels remorse is as such, when the ritual commenced, the distorters involved went on a all-out massacre on anything that moves. Seeing that they were literally doing an overkill by using Gates (generic term i'll use for weapon/ability from Negative Corridor) on unarmed civilians, collateral damage is bound to happen. As the debris from 1 of the buildings came crashing down, MC and his imouto were seperated from their parents by it. His parents who were stuck behind it, instructed him to bring his imouto to safety and not worry about them. As MC was running with his imouto to the outer areas of the city, a building near them exploded and some debris came flying at them and MC's imouto pushed him out of the way. When the MC recovered his senses, he found his imouto being trapped under some debris, and he tried lifting it but he was jus a kid (and it would be too heavy for even an adult). Then he told his imouto to wait for him while he goes to find help. He tried asking several people for help, but they were all busy fleeing for their lives and ignored him. When a fleeing person ran and knocked MC over, he suddenly saw a strong black glow from the center of the city (core of the ritual) and a black hemisphere expanded from the core to an unimaginable size and disappeared shortly. MC had a bad feeling and ran back to his imouto's location and saw a huge crater where the center of the city once stood. Near the edge of the crater was an item (probably a hairclip or something that MC would recognise as his imouto's item). Thats why he had always blamed himself for her death. And now that he met Unknown Loli who resembles his imouto at the age when she died, he felt that he found a new lead to uncover the reason his family was killed.
As for the ritual, rather than failing, its more of it being incomplete. Most of the seals were successfully undone after all, just that several things were lacking and such. The Inverse are indeed a by-product of the seals being undone. And its really a fallen god, not a fallen angel (shall say more in another post as this post is extrememly long and I haven't even finished answering all your qns). The government did not cover up about the Inverse as they are not aware of it (you don't normally see unless you are in the negative plane), but they did cover up the ritual and called it an industrial accident where a vehicle transporting a highly combustible mineral crashed and exploded.
The MC does not have any connection to magecraft and his family members are all regular civilians. And nope, I do not intend to implement sci-fi for this plot. What type of details would you like to know about the MC? I kinda don't know where to start. As for the catastrophe having a backstory, do you mean why the ritual was particularly done in that city or that year?
Since there are no spoilers in this thread, I'll say this now, MC's imouto does come back later on but it won't be because of something like 'she was never dead to begin with'. I'll touch on this topic again later on, as there are more crucial points to be explored 1st as they will affect the direction of the plot. The people do not actually know that monsters are roaming around as the monsters reside on another plane. It looks like a dark replica of our world and the monster can distort a small area of our world to merge with the negative plane for a limited time period to drag people into it. The only thing known to people are the many missing people cases over the years.
As for the MC's personality, after the incident, he actually became introverted for a while, as he didn't dare have relations with anyone just to lose it again, just like how he lost his whole family. Eventually he moved on and became back his usual self, aside from the self-blaming part and having nightmares frequently. He is generally friendly and easygoing but he gets serious when the situation calls for it. He also cherishes what he have and the people around him, as he understands the pain of losing something important to you. He is also more brains than brawns.
He generally does not have a preferred weapon of choice, but he usually uses a sword (and it was his 1st weapon also), but he does swap weapons sometimes depending on the scenarios. As for magic, as he is a Distorter and not a Mage, the magic he knows is taught by another character, so his magic is pretty basic and low level. He knows some basic elemental arts and defensive magic. His fighting capabilities mainly come from the differeent useful equipments he obtained from The Negative Corridor and learning how to use them together effectively.
As for making the series where the MC seeking revenge for the imouto, nah, he's more of wanting to seek answers than revenge. Even if he won't forgive the culprits, he'll prioritise bringing a closure to his family's death over revenge.
For the catastrophe's info, I'll tell you again when I'm back. Have to sleep now, its actually already very late over here =P
Though Tachi and I are in the middle of discussing some ideas, feel free to ask anything that you are interested to know, or point out anything that you feel should be changed or to look out for.
The imouto didn't inversify, but you can't exactly say she is normal also. Though I already planned her reappearance, I'm still thinking how to explain it in words.
People don't actually think what's going on because they don't know the existence of magic and monsters. The only reason they will think that way, its either they have interest in the occult (stuff like ghosts, UMA and such) or that they are chuuni =P. So anyway, the mysterious disappearances will just look like a chain of missing people cases which could be caused by kidnapping, murder or anything, just that it seems like there is a spike in crime involving missing people in the past few years.
MC doesn't exactly pretend to be normal. He's technically back to his original self, just that he has this guilt haunting him. And it is a known fact to people close to him, that he have been having nightmares often.
He is quick at learning about magic, and might be good at casting/chanting to trigger spells, but the spell is pretty slow to activate as he has no latent potential in regards to magic since he wasn't born with it in his blood or trained since young, and he lacks a catalyst. So instead of using powerful spells, he uses a chain of basic spells since he doesn't have much issues triggering them.
About sword and brains, I wasn't exactly trying to link them, more of just listing information about MC. He uses a sword cause it has relatively basic 'stats' and usage. For eg, considering that a battle axe or lance are heavy and would slow him down, and a bow/gun would have limited ammo, a sword is pretty useful as you can just hack-and-slash without much restrictions. Its just that he uses a sword more often, but does not limit himself to it. About him having more brains than brawns, I mean he settle problems by exploring various solutions and trying out several plans, instead of just settling every problem with his fists (or sword in this case). And he isn't muscular, very sporty, martial arts trained or something, he was just a regular highschool student who got some physical buff from his Gate, thus the not-so-much brawns.
The organisation isn't a magic school. Sure it would have a school as 1 of its many divisions/departments, but it is more of a law enforcing organisation that judges criminals who isn't a regular person (aka non human, human with abilities/magic). The magic school would be like an equivalent of a police academy. And no, the main character does not join the school and there are only minimal scenes of the magic school.
Seeking answers over vengeance suits MC's personality more and it would be out of character for him to suddenly be full of bloodlust.
Its ok, take your time to read. I understand that you have been very busy. Happens to me quite often as well. Somehow the deadlines for many assignments always happen in the same week/period and make our lives so hectic. Then suddenly, there are weeks where no subjects want you to submit any assigment at all, just so they can clash the deadlines together again on another week. *facepalm*
Anyway, how do you usually keep your book collection clean and/or dust free? Aside from the standard cleaning/wiping. Do you use anything to cover or wrap them?
not particularly... I live in a relatively dust-free (in all directions) environment so I never really need to clean them. my only issue is that since I have to order them online, sometimes the edges are slightly bent and it drives my ocd INSANE
Oh, thats good. My area can get dusty pretty easily as I live on a really high floor of an apartment building. As for your books sometimes having bent edges, that sucks. Don't they wrap a plastic around the book or use paper filling in the packge they use to deliver? Well, from what I heard, every human actually has some level of ocd, its just that its so minor for most people that it seems non existent.
Just wondering, if I want to list ideas of another plot (not some small ideas/inspirations, but 1 tat has some sort of structure and details already), would you guys prefer me to start another topic on my wall to prevent confusion with this plot's ideas? Just asking in advance, not that I'm gonna do it so soon.
1. Since the MC lacking muscles, should probably be a tactician. You probably already had this in mind, but to "improve" on the idea, he should come really close to a hair's thread and there should be other mages who would have done a better job than he did to make him go through a "dillemna" stage.
2. A lot of varaiaties of monsters. A lot. Key point for making... "jobs" for MC to take or something like that (gathering info)
3. If you're planning to add in minimal scenes of the magic school, might as well remove it as a whole. Would probably be redundant info.
Ok. Anyway, if you guys wanna share any of your own novel ideas or get feedback for them, feel free to post them here if you want to. Though I assume you guys have, and will continue posting in Drew's blog over at the cfv wiki, and I do intend to check it once in a while (though I haven't had the time to), but I tend to visit wx wiki more often.
1) Regarding that, there are several battles where MC plans ahead and/or prepare traps/plan B/escape route and stuff because he knows regardless of what he does, it'll be an uphill battle. The 'tactician' role won't be used that often as he does not often have a team (especially a sizeable one), but the 'planner' role will definitely be used very often. And there's also the case where he always tries to optimise the equipments/weapons/skills/abilities he have by mixing several of them to best suit the battles.
As for the 'dilemma' stage, I would prefer not to have him go through that self-loathing route (or better known as emo route =P) nor go through an inferiority complex stage, as he's beyond that already ever since he overcame his young introverted self. Instead, while he might be pissed or possibly agitated, he would breakdown the possible choices he could have made in those scenarios and try to identify his mistakes and also learn what he can change and improve on to make the best of it. It will include discussions with his allies sometimes, and he would seek their opinion on what choice they would have made in those scenarios.
2) Yup, that requires some thinking, but aside from various types of Inverse, I have this idea of creating an evolution (or rather corruption) for them. As it sounds, yes there will be human hosts for the corrupting evos.
3) For the magic school, what I meant is that it exists, since u asked. I'll just briefly mention it when the MC is shown around and introduced to the various divisions of the Organisation.
Probably you can state the setting, plot and characters like you told me to? Then we can proceed to the parts you want to explore more due to the lack of reference material.
It was fun, especialy the part of which I stole candies from people XP
I watched GATE and Jojo there so :/
1. Tactician = planner by my defenition sooo :/
If you don't wanna go down the inferiority route, a "why should I live?" route, developing into "I don't need a reason to live, all I have to do is live!" route and then making him meet the imouto again would lead to good development I'd say.
2. Now it looks like Black Bullet... That being said I started Black Bullet recently so it might be just me :/
There's a school. It's a school for wilderness training a.k.a. survival (camping, hiking, hunting, surviving in... Siberia, deserts, amazon, in the mountains, etc), and the MC is a random guy who thought "cool" and went in it, meets a bunch of people and etc.
The setting is way too unique for refferences and since there isn't any fantasy concept in it, finding refferences is hard p_p
As for the plot, so far I'm going the romance drama route along with carrer planning and etc. Being the type of school it is, there are people who go there for thousands of reasons some of which being just "screw work, Imma live in the wild!" or "I'll make it to the television with this!" and etc. The MC is doing it for fun, someone else was forced to due to bad paperwork, the rival is doing it to overcome his trauma and the rival's twin brother (who is the MC's roommate) is doing it to help his brother. The main heroine is doing it to help others, of course :P
1) True. Its jus me thinking that tactics = commanding a team. (Played too much Final Fantasy Tactics Advance in the past =P)
I didn't want MC suddenly doing things that seem out of character. While he still misses his imouto and still carries that guilt, he actually found a reason to live for both then and now. For the past, someone he met after that incident managed to open his introverted heart, thus him becoming back his usual self. As for now, he met Unknown Loli which gave him a form a new hope and lead, and he's also fighting to find out about the many truths (as i said before above), to survive and to protect what he currently has.
2) Oh, Black Bullet. Well, I would say it can be a good comparison to what I'm talking about. Its similar but also different. Shall talk more about it when I start getting into the plot.
Hmm, about your plot, let me think about it for a while.
Sounds like a pretty fun event haha. Well, they did say that they are not responsible after all =P
1) The MC tends to take a more realistic approach on things, so he definitely can see his weaknesses and stress/feels sore over his defeats or close shaves, but he wouldn't fall into the 'dilemma state'.
2) Well, it depends on each individual person's scenario for whether there's blood or other brutal aspects, but probably a close comparison would be an Akuma transformation from D.gray-man? Though the appearance may not necessary change that much for some.
Now that we are on this topic, I shall list down a few things so that you get a better picture.
- MC's best friend (male) and childhood friend (female) won't become combatants, they represent the normal side of MC's life.
- Negative Corridor originally did not get fueled by dark emotions upon its creation. It was corrupted by the Fallen God due to an incident very long ago, but it still functions as it is supposed to, and can continue to destroy the Inverse.
- Due to the corruption of the Negative Corridor, Gate users will be implicated, thus the 'similar' aspect to Black Bullet. But the corruption is not based on total duration of usage, but frequency of usage and amount of power drawn. The corruption is generally unharmful and can reset to '0% corruption' upon sufficient rest and not using the Gate's powers.
- MC will not be a/the character that gets corrupted, but the corruption will be an important turning point in the plot (not the particular character, but the fact the corruption rate comes so easily despite the reset).
- Depending on our personal definition of 'harem', the MC may or may not have 1, because the relations between him and some girls are not exactly as a love interest, at least for both parties to think the same way.
- The childhood friend will not become MC's love interest (unlike many series with MC having a childhood friend). She will be dating MC's best friend.
- You know how in plots, sometimes some girls get more prominent role for a certain arc's storytelling or backstory, but the main female lead is always the same girl right? For my plot, this is not the case. For a different arc, that girl who becomes more prominent is literally the main female lead for that whole arc.
I should be getting to the plot outline in my next post, will state something like a flow of sorts.
For my plot's outline, I will list below the supposed arcs and probably a brief description. The arcs are made to look like they have minimal or no connection to each other in terms of the big picture, aka the underlying main plot that spans across the whole series. Below listed are just the 'confirmed' ones, might have more, or some other form of changes.
- Prologue/Introduction (not exactly the best word to use for describing, but the arc despite being named this way, is not just a simple introduction of characters and stuff, which lasts just a couple of chapters. It is reallly an arc itself, just that the plot is still abit vague at this point, and it will be shorter compared to the other arcs.)
- Negative Corridor arc (introduces how the Negative Corridor and Gates really work. Also reveals the central control of the 'system'. Climax of the arc will be the battle for control of the central control 'core')
- Inquisition arc (introduces fully the structure of the Mage Organisation and its divisions. Reveals information about the Fallen God's seals. Confirms that a hidden faction within the Mage Org exists, despite no information about the members and its goals.)
- Inverse War arc (the Inverse begin to evolve and some Gate users are showing signs of corruption. The relentless attacks of swarms of Inverse force Gate users to spam their usage of the Gates, preventing cooldown 'reset' to their corruption. Corrupted Gate users are no longer human and will attack humans like the Inverse.)
- Magic Rebellion arc (the faction that stayed in the shadows finally decided to make a move so that they can make preparations to summon the Fallen God once again. The true allegiance of some characters will be revealed, characters will take sides, new allies new enemies, possibly new factions too if different ideology)
- Origins arc (the cast for this arc is completely different from the usual cast, cause this is a flashback arc to how everything started, from the creation of Negative Corridor to the 1st time time the Fallen God was summoned, and also the dark secrets of the Mage Organisation's beginnings)
- Final arc (its exactly as the name says, details will be discussed next time, cause discussing the ending when everything else is still in progress is lol)
I should probably mention a little about key characters that don't appear that early, now that I have gone more in-depth.
- Elemental Blader (a mage skilled in using various elemental arts, uses a sword as well, can enchant elements on his custom weapon, can probably say he's something like the Magic Organisation counterpart of MC, though not as literal as that)
- Mage Loli (Elemental Blader's cousin, imouto-like relationship, still thinking how to expand her roles)
- Aristocrat (involved in Mysterious Loli's past, decently ranked member of the Mage Organisation, revealed to be involved in incidents that goes against the ideology of the Mage Organisation, finally confirmed to be 1 of the supposed many members of the hidden faction)
- Genocider (involved in the mass genocide 8? years ago, a member of the assault force during the summoning of the Fallen God, MC saw his face during the incident and specifically remembers him, 1 of the leads for MC to uncover the 'cluster of truths')
- Old Man (not sure what to call him lol, but he really is an old man, quite many things to say about him, but shall not go into it that fast as I need to reveal other things 1st)
- Female Hero (pov character for the Origins arc)
- Male Hero (2nd MC of the Origins arc)
On a side note, I'm interested to use the Major Arcana of the Tarot for my plots, still thinking whether it suits this plot better or my other.
@Tachi, I just realised that my reply to 1 of your question above is somewhat not fully correct.
When you asked me "Does the MC have any connection with magecraft before the catastrophe? Like the dad being a mage or something?", I said no and I was literally thinking only whether he has magic in his blood.
There's this idea I had, that either happens before or after the catastrophe (i'm still deciding when to place it), but regardless of my decision, it definitely happens before MC used his Gate for the 1st time during present day.
Will type more when I'm back. Going to bed now (once again stayed up very late and having a long day tomorrow for settling some important issues.) Anyway, when you have some free time to spare, try reading some of my posts above as they contain some useful information to know more about the plot.
For the reading part, for one I did roughly look at them, and ignoring everything but the plot, you need to be really more specific about stuff. Again, don't mind about giving out spoilers. It makes it hard to recommend stuff :/
Oh, I wasn't really trying to hold anything back or treating anything as spoilers. It was more of, "telling things in a wrong order might make it more confusing". A good example will be talking about some event that happened, then introducing the characters that were present there, will actually make it hard to follow at times.
The first scene starts with the reader in POV (we still don't know which character's eyes are we looking through, but its as if we, the reader are at the scene itself). The scene is of a dimly lited street at night. So 'we' are walking down this street and there seems to be an object in the distance. As 'we' approached it, its revealed to be a door in the middle of the street. As 'our' hand reached for the door's handle to turn it, there was a voice calling out someone's name for a few times. When the name got clear enough, everything went black and 'we' woke up. Then its revealed that it was MC having a dream and the voice calling out is actually the person that woke him up. The scene is now a classroom and the person that woke MC up is actually his homeroom teacher. Her facial expression showed more concern than anger (at MC sleeping during her class).
<insert events till MC leaves school, probably does some stuff outside and is on his way home after that>
So the sky is dark now and when MC is walking down the street, he notices that there is no one in front of him, and when he looks back there's no one too. All the shops are closed as well though its not supposed to be that late yet. He decides to not think much of it and continue walking. Suddenly there was a loud sound and an unknown entity rushed towards MC. MC started running as fast as he can, but soon realises that he came back to the same spot from the opposite direction as the unknown monster is now in front of him. (imagine running northwards, and reaching back the same spot you started running from, but coming from the south). As the MC tried to avoid getting hit by the monster, he saw an object and ran towards it. Upon reaching it, its actually a door, similar to the 1 in his dream. MC had his back against the door and faced the monster right in front of him now. The monster striked at MC and he dodged to the side while falling back, his hand accidentally pushed the door handle down and opened it slightly (it opens inwards) and some black fog/mist came out. While MC was still falling (haven't reacahed the ground), 2 flashes went past the MC. When MC reached the ground, he saw a vertical and horizontal line forming a '+' sign on the monster's body and it split into 4. MC turned to look at the door. A tall and dark armored figure holding a greatsword was standing in front of the door and looking towards MC's direction. (chapter end....)
The monster is the Inverse, just called it monster now cause MC doesn't know anything yet.
Btw, its only 'so detailed' now because its the first chapter, so I wanted to say a little more in how it started. After this, it will generally be flows and transitions from events, incidents and arcs, so you can see a clearer picture of the plot points.
... Eh, I dun really need the entire thing. A summary of the important events in the book (development scenes, unless they happen in a critical point of the plot, aren't counted as important) that connects to the "big picture" and the main plot is fine. I need your planning for the plot, not the plot itself.

I know.... Thus I said what I said above. And there's no harm in letting you know how the plot started right? Besides, it wasn't the entire thing as the middle section had some details removed. I also mentioned that after this post about the start of the plot, everything that I will mention will just be the flows and transitions for events, incidents and arcs, which is exactly what you are looking for me to talk about as seen in your latest post.
I'm finally (fully) back for today at least. Yet another very late night doing my project. So getting back to the topic, I think I'll also briefly mention when recurring characters make their 1st appearance, so it'll cause less confusion like 'who is this guy' or 'where was he from'.
From where I left off from that 1st chapter intro, basically the armed black knight (referred as Dark Knight from now on) walked backwards into the gate and it closed and vanished. A character was watching all that happened from a high ground from a distance, he will shortly be revealed as the Armed Aggressor I talked about when I 1st started this thread. Armed Agressor reappears the next night and attacks MC, stating that he saw MC did something interesting and forces MC to summon the Dark Knight again by attacking MC.
A gate later appears and MC went in it to avoid the attacks. He finds himself in a dark single path hallway with many doors on both sides of the wall (thus it being called the Negative Corridor) and the door which MC stepped through disappeared behind him and its the same stretch of dark hallway with many doors on both walls. Since there seemed to be no exit, MC just tried checking if any doors can be opened as he walked. So every door was locked till he found one. He opened it and there was a sleeping loli (referred as Unknown Loli from now on) in the small room. She was floating and hugging a black sword. MC tried waking her up and when his hand came into contact with the loli, he found himself outside again. Armed Aggressor commented that he was surprised MC could use 2 different gates and said he thought he was the only one and revealed he has the ability to take other's gate for himself and pressured MC to hand over using force (from now on, Armed Agressor will be known as Gate Eater).
@Tachi, I know I said it won't be very detailed the next time I get to the plot points, but sorry that I wasn't able to cut it shorter just to intro the characters cause it'll be quite weird to say the guy randomly attacked MC and MC just found a loli at this location, but generally only character intro will be more detailed since cutting out the wrong parts will just make you more confused. And the fact that I wanted to show what the Negative Corridor is sort of like, since its a plot mechanic.
@Drew, don't hit me when you get started on reading this thread. I tried cutting short for some posts but found them pretty confusing so I ended up writing more details and they turned out pretty long.
Do note that half the post was trying to show about how the Negative Corridor is like. Well, I'm not very good at summarising how a character is introduced. And it wasn't the whole thing or rather it isn't how the chapter is. Note how I made it abit informal like I was speaking to you instead of a reader. Seeing that the 'how MC gets involved in the plot' and 'what are these door/gate' is shown, I believe I will be able to cut down easily for the other intros. Plot flow will definitely not be a problem for shortening,
If it's about the Negative Corridor, I say that just giving me an essay of what it's exactly like is more effective. I don't need the character introduction either. Gimme a summary of the whole plot, or of the climax of it at least.
Noted. But if you don't know any character introduction, what do I say when something happens in the plot. For eg. MC leads a battle against character B's army. Won't you be thinking who is B and why is MC fighting B?
How about this? I'll try to write the summary of the arcs while still naming characters and at the end of the post or on a separate post, I'll say the mentioned characters' roles and affiliations. Then you can ask questions about a character you want to know more about and things that confuse you since I'm cutting stuff from everywhere.
Noted. So here's the summary for the Prologue/Introduction arc.
MC gets attacked by an Inverse and comes across Dark Knight. Gate Eater attacks MC with intention of devouring MC's gate. MC steps into Negative Corridor and meets Unknown Loli and obtains a black sword (which is his Gate weapon). MC realises that Unknown Loli resembles his sister. MC meets Mysterious Loli and Maid. MC learns the existence of Magic and that there are many Mages and some possibly even live amongst common folk. MC finds out that Inverse can be killed by Gates or Magic. MC meets other Gate users and tries to exchange information to learn more about the mysteries and to stay alive. Mage Organisation makes a move deeming MC as a dangerous existence cause Gates usually contain an item or ability, but in MC's case, a living entity (Unknown Loli) was inside it. The arc will end with 3 mages attacking MC and capturing Unknown Loli after defeating him.
MC's backstory will be revealed abit in his conversations with Mysterious Loli.
MC gets saved by someone after he was defeated. MC's vision was blurry as he was knocked out, but he saw a figure/silouhette of an adult female. MC wakes up in the mansion of Mysterious Loli. MC finds out that Mage Organisation was behind the attack. MC plans his next moves while recovering.
Over at Mage Organisation, Elemental Blader and Mage Loli are introduced. Elemental Blader intercepted the custody of Unknown Loli, who was put into a jail cell. Mage Loli invited Unknown Loli to stay at her house. Elemental Blader took on the role of the observer of Unknown Loli as she was deemed a dangerous distortion, cause she isn't supposed to exist.
MC learns how the Negative Corridor and Gates work. MC learns basic magic from Mysterious Loli. MC decides to try infiltrating Mage Organisation's grounds. Before MC's plan began, a large-scale distortion occurred. MC finds many Gate users and some Inverse in distortion. MC finds out source of distortion is caused by humans (1 or more Gate users) by forced resonating with all the Gate users around, and 'core' of the Negative Corridor is in this distortion. Purpose of triggering the distortion is to obtain 'core' which is key to manipulating the Negative Corridor. MC decided to fight to obtain the 'core' as he is unsure what will happen to him when someone else obtains it. Mysterious Loli, Maid, Elemental Blader, a few mages are also in the distortion. It is revealed that the 'core' is Dark Knight, but it is in a dormant state. Climax battle is MC vs Gate Eater. MC wins and obtains 'core'.
That will eventually be done in future. But what I mean now is that I'll change their nicknames from the 3rd arc onwards due to plot revelation. I'm using their current nickname so you know who I'm referring to, cause their nicknames are derived from their role/appearance and that will change from 3rd arc onwards for 2 characters.
Yea, cause I still don't know how to name my characters =P. When the characters are properly named in future, their names will not change from the 3rd arc onwards, just their appearance and role. The reason the nickname is changed is for a better idea of which particular character I'm talking about.
On the bright side, you still have Unknown Loli and Mage Loli. And there's Kuudere Knight too, who looks like a middle schooler. About Mysterious Loli's true form being an adult, it is actually for her character development as her backstory will reveal how and why she was sealed. That is also 1 of the main plot points in the 3rd arc, cause she's related to the Mage Organisation indirectly.
Summary of my version: MC normal life turns into wierd stuff because of the "incident" a.k.a. ritual of which people dun know that it's a ritual and in there monsters come out, MC loses his imouto and gains access to the Gate of which a sword and a loli is inside it, gets scouted by academy.
2nd Arc: Gets defeated, gets saved by mysterious loli, mysterious loli teaches the MC stuff, gets kidnapped, MC saves mysterious loli and meets Dark Knight while he's at it and a bunch of stuff happens.
Overall, the story looks interesting.
Clarifications: A clear explination of what the Negative Corridor and stuff works?
Generally you got the idea for most points, but there are a few points to note and also a few corrections.
About the incident 8? years ago, the only thing readers know about it at the early part of the plot is that MC lost his family in it and how it impacted MC. The ritual thing will be talked about in a later arc (though its strongly hinted that the incident was unnatural and the explanation given to the general public was generally BS) when more of MC's backstory is shown. And MC does not get scouted by the Mage Organisation but instead deemed as a dangerous existence and they took the initiative to attack MC.
For 2nd arc, Mysterious Loli does not get kidnapped. The loli who got kidnapped is Unknown Loli and it happened at the end of 1st arc.
Before I talk about the Negative Corridor or start on the 3rd arc, I jus want to say some stuff about the 2 characters that got their nicknames changed. You know how Mysterious Loli is actually an adult right? But while she looks (in her true form) to be in her 20s, she's actually older than that due to being sealed for x years, cause her true form is pre-sealing. So her age is pre-sealing + x. For the Kuudere Knight, her Dark Knight mode isn't actually her wearing an armor. She does not wear the armor but enters it (like how a ghost will move through stuff). And to her, on the inside of the armor seems like another dimension. A small room where she controls the armor using her mind.
